The Bay Area’s Strides for Life Colon Cancer Foundation Announces Annual Run/Walk at Lake Merced

Strides for Life is a Bay Area non-profit organization founded in memory of Dylan Cappel, whose life was taken by colon cancer at the age of 23. Since his passing, the organization has remained fully committed to raising awareness, prevention and detection of the disease through philanthropic efforts.
Strides for Life Colon Cancer Foundation presents “Get Your Rear in Gear” run/walk on Oct. 23 at Lake Merced. Supporters will participate in honor of survivors and loved ones lost to colon cancer. One hundred percent of the event’s proceeds go toward the Strides for Life program, which provides the uninsured with free screenings for colon cancer. The Bay Area colon cancer donations can be made during the run.
“Strides for Life has funded more than 100 colonoscopies. Once you cross the finish line you will be treated to a pancake breakfast something unique to our event,” said Sinead Doherty of
Stride for Life.
Colon Cancer is the second most fatal cancer in the United States and 90 percent of colon cancer diagnoses can be prevented. It is expected to cause 49,380 deaths this year.
The event welcomes runners, walkers and bikers for a four-mile celebratory trek. Bay Area colon cancer supporters can register as teams or individuals to walk and fundraise for this life-altering cause. Strides for Life is a constantly evolving awareness project that believes every person counts.
