Leading Victorian Commercial Law Firm Adds BigHand Smartphone Capability
Sydney, Australia (PRWEB) July 28, 2011
BigHand, the leading voice productivity vendor in the legal community supporting over 138,000 professionals globally, today announced leading Victorian commercial law firm Ryan Carlisle Thomas (RCT) has upgraded to BigHand version 4 allowing lawyers at both RCT and affiliate firm Stringer Clark to increase productivity during Courtroom ‘downtime’. Productivity when traveling between different offices and from home has also improved, plus the firms are able to better understand peaks and bottlenecks of work via the BigHand Analytics module.
According to the firm’s IT spokesperson, Leanne Willis:
“Our lawyers can dictate during courtroom down time, when travelling between offices or while working from home and instantly access administrative support. BigHand has also provided an opportunity for several staff members within RCT to work from home due to maternity leave, for others to satisfy the need to be home for young or sick children, or in some cases for part time staff who work at the office during school hours and then at home for the rest of the working week. BigHand has really enhanced our ability to remain productive in different circumstances.”
Lawyers across RCT’s 21 offices now make the most of BigHand advanced workflow technology and the new smartphone capabilities, which includes iPhone, BlackBerry or Android devices, to provide higher levels of client service. Not only is document turnaround faster overall, but also because BigHand makes categorising and transmitting work so quick and easy the most urgent transcriptions are done on time no matter what else is waiting in the queue. Willis notes: “High priority work is identified quickly plus being able to choose the ‘date required by’ enables the transcribers to prioritise the really time sensitive work more effectively.
“We also find the Analytics module useful for ensuring we have enough assistants to transcribe dictation at various times, and to compare historical trends. We need to make sure we are satisfying the requirements of urgent work and the turnaround time is suitable for both fee earners and our clients. It is easy to use and configure – a really useful additional tool to make sure we are using the BigHand workflow as efficiently as possible.”

Hey, just looking around some blogs, seems a pretty nice platform you are using. I’m currently using WordPress for a few of my sites but looking to change one of them over to a platform similar to yours as a trial run. Anything in particular you would recommend about it?
